Film Festival

Future Tasmania, Wide Angle Tasmania, the Book End Trust and the Department of the Environment are in the process of developing a cutting-edge film project that will provide mentoring for emerging environmental filmmakers from Tasmania and beyond. The plan is to create a weeklong training session for filmmakers, followed by a forum in Hobart to showcase their work. Future Tasmania has brokered a relationship with the Environmental Film Festival in Washington, DC, which includes scope to highlight the films that emerge from this project. Several filmmakers have accepted invitations to be involved, including Laurent Chalet (March of the Penguins), Grace Guggenheim (Academy Award-winning Documentary-maker) and Cathy Henkel (The Burning Season). Stay tuned! (For more information about this, contact the Future Tasmania office.)
